How to leave a comment on a blog

Spoutin' Out would like to announce Leslie as the lucky winner of the Soy Linen & Body Spray from The Gift Closet! Congratulations Leslie and thank you for posting your comment. Be sure to keep reading Spoutin’ Out for more fun giveaways!

Many of you have sent me emails off line asking me how to add a comment to Spoutin’ Out, so I am going to use today's post (a post is the written article) to explain. Afterall, what fun is this blog if you can't enter to win anything?

At the bottom of every post, you will find a "comments" link like this:

The comment link will take you to the posting page that looks like this:

I know it's hard to see, but the visual should give you an idea. The upper left corner displays the blog post title you are commenting on. The rest of the left-hand column contains any comments that have already been made. The profile photos of the comment authors may also display, depending on the blog's settings.

The screen shot below is the right side of the same page above.

The right hand side of the page is the space for you to enter your comment. Beneath that are the identity options. Identity options are where you identify yourself and let me and other readers know who you are.

The identity options are a little different in this screen shot then they are on my blog, but it should give you the idea. My blog identity list will read:

Google (Blogger): Your Blogger name will appear, along with a link to your profile and your photo, if you have one. If you don't keep reading

Open ID: Most of you new to blogging won’t have this, so skip this option

Name/URL: For newbies, this is probably the best option. All you have to do is enter your first name. You can enter a url if you happen to have one, but it’s not necessary and just your works fine

Anonymous: No identifying information is displayed. The comment is not credited.

Note: Anonymous is my least favorite, because there is no way for me to tell who you are, if you don’t have a Blogger account.

The most important thing to remember if you don’t have a Blogger account or Open ID is to leave me your email address. If I don’t have it written in your comment, you can’t win, because I can’t find you.
