Jeepers Creepers....Where did you get those eyes?

If you're like me, standing at the makeup counter or aisle in search of a good mascara can be very confusing. Should you get lengthening, curling, thickening or non-smudging? And what is the difference between them anyway? Is there really a difference or are mascara types all hype, designed to get you to buy their product? Here are a few reviews from mascara that I have used.

Maybelline Great Lash ~ This would fall under the budget category, however, in my opinion is the best waterproof mascara on the market. It is a classic and reputed to be the best-selling waterproof mascara ever created. It doesn't clump, lasts a long time and won't come off easily.




Maybelline is going to give Cover Girl Lashblast a run for its money with their new Colossal mascara. The mega-brush and volume formula make Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express a definite must-have. Colossal has no clumping , stays in place until you wash it off and claims to make your lashes 9 times with one coating. I don't know if it was 9 times, but it was long! It washes off easily with regular cleanser and contains collagen to help thicken the lashes and as a blonde, I really need that. The brush is really big, so if you have big eyes this might not be the product for you.


Cover Girl Lash Exact ~ I have used lash exact and do like it. It does exactly what it says it does: exacting the lashes and separating them. I find no clumps or anything like that. however, I don't like how it smudges during the day. Also, it's not that big on volume. it does nicely hold a curl. I think overall the waterproof version is a great everyday mascara with minor issues.



L'Oreal Voluminous ~ I was happy with how this mascara thickened and also lengthened my lashes. It didn't clump at all. However, I always curl my eyelashes with an eyelash curler and I found that after I put the mascara on, it seemed to straighten out my curled eyelashes almost immediately. If you aren't an eyelash curler, this product would be great for you.


Cover Girl Lash Blast ~ It's fun bright orange wand really stands out and its fat orange tube is easy to hold on to. The mascara goes on smoothly and evenly, without leaving clumps. It also separates lashes and adds a very slight curl. It gives a little bit of that false-eyelash look without crossing the line into actual fakeness, and it doesn't flake. I don't think it appears to lengthen lashes as much as thickens, separates and defines them, but the product overall is good.

Smooth Lips

I am plagued by dry flaky lips and am constantly using chapstick. I've heard you can get hooked on chapstick and I think I just may be. I found this great product by Mary Kay. Mary Kay's Satin Lip Mask is a gentle treatment that helps my lips stay smooth. I apply the cream to my lips, leave it on for 2 minutes, wipe it off with a soft tissue and voila my lips are smooth again. I love it and the results last for a few weeks and at $10.00 at marykay.com, it beats having to carry a chapstick in every pocket and every pocketbook.

Too good to be true?

I have been on the lookout for a pair of Prada sneakers. I can’t and won’t pay the full retail price for them, so have been forced to search the web for a cute affordable pair and in my search I found a site called Chinashopunion.com. Ever heard of it? I hadn’t.

Anywho, their website says they are the leading world-wide wholesaler company and supply more than 100 thousand high-quality merchandise and famous brand name products, all at wholesale prices.

They carry a ton of products including Tiffany & Co. Necklaces for $16.00, “My” Prada Sneaker for $30.00, Gucci Sandals for $30.00, Gucci High Top Sneakers for $30.00 and Coach Handbags for $55.00. Hum? Maybe you can only buy these wholesale, but it didn't seem that way.

I will definitely need to learn more about the site before I purchase my sneakers and possibly some other fun items, so will have to do some more digging. If however, you've heard of or know anything about this site, give me a shout out. I would love to hear your feedback. In the meantime, I will do some poking around and get back to you.

I was deleting some forwarded emails today. You know the ones that try to frighten you by saying; "If you don't pass this on to 10 people, you will have bad luck" or "You'll save someone's life if you pass this on to 10 people." How about the one that says, "If you pass this on to 10-people you will be visited by a Money Angel!" Really, a Money Angel! Come on.

That being said, I don't delete them all. The ones that are really funny or informative, I may pass along. If I do forward them, it is usually just to my poor mother and mother-in-law (lucky them), but even then they have to be really funny... and short.

I found this email in my inbox and before I sent it to the recycle bin, I thought I would post it in hopes of giving you a smile. And, hey, it is both funny and informative. It shows how important writing is.

Thank God for church ladies. These sentences actually appeared in church bulletins or announced in church services. You may have seen this. I think it's old, but here you go ~

Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.

Our youth basketball team is back in action Wed, 8 pm, in recreation hall. Come out and watch us kill Christ the King.

Weight Watchers will meet at 7 pm at First Presbyterian Church. Please use large double door at side entrance.

Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.

The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today was cancelled due to a conflict.

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say 'Hell' to someone who doesn't care much about you.

Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.

Miss Charlene Mason sang 'I will not pass this way again,' giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.

For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

Next Thu, there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get. The Rector will preach his farewell message after which the choir will sing: 'Break Forth Into Joy.'

A bean supper will be held Tue evening in the church hall. Music will follow. 8 new choir robes are currently needed due to addition of several new members and to deterioration of some older ones.

The ladies of the Church cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement, Fri afternoon.

Ladies Bible Study will be held Thu morning, 10 am. All ladies are invited to lunch in Fellowship Hall after the BS is done.
